Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed expectations on November 4, local time, that the U.S. Democratic Party's sweeping victory in the midterm elections would lead to increased military aid for Ukraine.

During an interview with Germany's ZDF television on November 4, President Zelenskyy stated, "The U.S. Democratic Party has clearly spoken out in support of Ukraine and the expansion of aid."

"They have also spoken about restoring the alliance between the U.S. and Europe," he said. "Therefore, there is hope that a balance of power will be achieved and that we will receive more assistance."

These remarks are interpreted as a focus on the possibility that U.S. aid to Ukraine, which had been strained due to the attitudes of the Trump administration and the Republican Party, may find a breakthrough as the U.S. Democrats secure majorities in not only the House of Representatives but also the Senate.

President Zelenskyy particularly argued that an increase in U.S. support would also change the stubborn stance of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"If the U.S. Congress mentions an increase in financial and military support, just as Europe is doing now, it will be a positive development and will also have an impact on Putin," he said.

Amid past pressure from the U.S. for an end to the war, Ukraine and Russia are scheduled to resume trilateral working-level face-to-face talks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 10 to 11.

Regarding the situation on the battlefield, President Zelenskyy commented on the military satellite internet Starshield outage last month, saying, "We are grateful for SpaceX's provision of the communication network."

However, taking aim at SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who is seen as friendly toward Russia, he pointed out, "But we must make one thing clear: we are not at all pleased with the stance he is showing in this war."

Earlier, President Zelenskyy visited Germany on November 3 to attend a security conference held in Berlin.

Meeting with reporters locally regarding the trilateral working-level talks, he said, "We hope that this format of cooperation and various diplomatic steps will lead to a trilateral summit-level meeting."
