Comedian and actor Kim Kyu-won is set to star in Tving's very first original sitcom, "Gungjeon Land."
Slated to premiere in 2027, Tving's first original sitcom "Gungjeon Land" tells the story of people who appear royal on the outside but live shabbily on the inside, following amusement park part-timers who must endure pure madness behind a world of fantasy.
Kim Kyu-won takes on the role of Yang Sung-wook, the eldest of the "Gungjeon-z" crew working at Gungjeon Land's Water World. Yang Sung-wook is a devoted foodie with an unmatched passion for eating, yet possesses a fragile mindset that contrasts with his large build. With remarkable empathy fitting an extreme "F" (feeling) personality, he lends a sympathetic ear to those around him and looks after his colleagues with the distinct warmth of a pitiable older brother. Furthermore, as a self-proclaimed and widely acknowledged "older brother in the know" armed with an endless array of trivia, he is expected to add plenty of humor to the story with both his clumsy and sly sides.
Leveraging his signature comedic instincts, Kim Kyu-won is determined to uniquely bring to life Yang Sung-wook's rich emotions, strong empathy, and endearing, clumsy twist charms.
After debuting in 2023 on tvN's "Comedy Big League," Kim Kyu-won caught the public's eye on the Coupang Play comedy show "SNL Korea" through distinct characters and witty acting. He has built his own presence through realistic character portrayals and clever banter, earning recognition for his talents as an entertainer by winning the Best Male Rookie Entertainer Award at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards. Building on the expressive depth and versatile character work honed across comedy stages and variety shows, he continues to take on fresh acting challenges.
Kim Kyu-won previously took on his first traditional scripted drama role as Keundung-i in the JTBC drama "The Apartment Job." In that project, he highlighted his character's unexpected charm by naturally depicting a pure, gentle interior that contrasted with his muscular frame, along with his unwavering loyalty toward Park Hae-kang.
"Gungjeon Land" is scheduled to make its debut in 2027.
