South Korean national team midfielder Hwang In-beom picked up an assist as Porto defeated Napoli to claim their first win in the league phase of the 2026-2027 UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Porto secured a dominant 4-1 victory against Napoli in the fourth match of the 2026-2027 UCL league phase held at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal, on the 5th.

This is the first time Porto has scored three or more goals in a UCL match since their 5-3 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) in December 2023.

After three consecutive losses to start the league phase, Porto earned a crucial first win to move to 1 win and 3 losses (3 points, -1 goal difference). They are level on points with Napoli (1 win and 3 losses, 3 points, -5 goal difference) but sit ahead in 26th place on goal difference.

Napoli is placed 27th.

Hwang started the match against Napoli on the bench.

Porto took the early lead just 11 minutes into the first half when Jan Bednarek scored with a header from Gabri Veiga's corner kick.

However, Porto failed to hold onto the lead as they conceded an equalizer to Napoli's Scott McTominay in the 43rd minute of the first half.

Ending the first half tied 1-1, Porto continued a tight battle in the second half until Veiga scored in a counterattack situation in the 26th minute of the second half, making it 2-1.

Porto then substituted Veiga and brought on Hwang In-beom from the bench in the 33rd minute of the second half.

Just two minutes after stepping onto the pitch, Hwang became the provider for the insurance goal.

This match was watched live on site by Robert Moreno, the interim manager of the South Korean national football team, who was checking on European-based players ahead of two A-matches in November.

Jakub Kiwior headed home a corner kick delivered by Hwang, extending Porto's lead to 3-1.

With this assist, Hwang recorded his first attacking point of the season in the UCL league phase in his fourth appearance.

Hwang currently has 1 goal and 2 assists in official matches this season (1 goal and 1 assist in the league, 1 assist in the UCL).

Porto sealed their 4-1 victory in the 45th minute of the second half when Napoli defender Rafa Marín fouled an opponent inside the penalty area, resulting in a red card and a penalty kick. Samu Omorodion stepped up as the kicker and successfully converted it.

Meanwhile, Club Brugge (Belgium) defender Lee Han-beom missed the team's away match against PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) for the fourth matchday of the UCL league phase, held at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on the same day.

Brugge defeated Eindhoven 2-1 to extend their winning streak to three games following an opening-match loss, bringing their record to 3 wins and 1 loss (9 points) and moving up to 9th place.

Eindhoven (1 win, 1 draw, 2 losses, 4 points) dropped to 24th.
