The Samsung Lions bounced back by winning an exhausting extra-inning battle in professional baseball.

In Game 2 of the Korean Series (best-of-seven) in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO Postseason held away at Suwon KT Wiz Park on November 4, the Samsung Lions defeated KT Wiz 3-2 after 12 innings following a defensive error by their opponents.

Having lost the opening game by a single run, Samsung leveled the series at one win apiece and headed home to Daegu.

Game 3 of the Korean Series will take place at Daegu Samsung Lions Park at 6:30 PM on November 6.

The match unfolded as a tight pitching duel.

After escaping a jam with no outs and a runner on second in the bottom of the first inning, Samsung claimed the game's first run in the top of the second.

Leadoff hitter Choi Hyung-woo hit a double to right field against KT starting pitcher Ko Young-pyo, followed by Lewin Díaz, who smashed an RBI triple to right.

KT right fielder Choi Won-joon leapt to catch the ball but dropped it as he collided with the fence.

After squandering consecutive opportunities—including no outs with a runner on third following the play, two outs with a runner on first in the top of the third, and one out with a runner on second in the top of the fourth—Samsung allowed KT to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth while leading 1-0.

Samsung starting pitcher Chris Paddack gave up a double down the left-field line to KT leadoff hitter Sam Hilliard.

Paddack retired the subsequent batter, Kim Hyun-soo, on a center-field fly ball, allowing Hilliard to tag up and reach third.

Paddack then yielded an RBI single to left field to Heo Kyung-min, allowing the tying run.

The tight contest continued.

Paddack and Ko Young-pyo worked through multiple scoring crises to maintain a 1-1 tie.

As both starting pitchers surpassed their pitch limits after allowing one run each through seven innings, Samsung and KT turned to their bullpens starting in the eighth.

KT brought in closer Park Young-hyun with one out in the top of the eighth to shut down the regular innings without giving up a run. Meanwhile, Samsung called upon Won Tae-in—whom they had planned to use as a starter for Game 4—after Lee Seung-min surrendered a left-center double to Heo Kyung-min with one out and a runner on second in the bottom of the ninth.

Won Tae-in finished the inning without conceding a run and dragged the game into extra innings.

Samsung produced a precious run in the top of the 10th inning.

Leadoff hitter Kim Ji-chan got on base after being hit by a pitch from KT's fourth pitcher, Sugimoto Koki, and advanced to second on Kim Sung-yoon's ground ball to the infield.

Samsung created a one-out opportunity with runners on first and second by drawing an intentional walk for Koo Ja-wook. Park Seung-gyu then drove a ball toward right-center, but opposing center fielder Hilliard made a diving catch to prevent any runs.

However, the next batter, Díaz, handled a second-pitch slider from KT left-hander Jeon Yong-joo and lined an RBI single to right field to score a run.

In the bottom of the 10th inning while leading 2-1, Samsung surrendered a painful run.

With one out, Won Tae-in gave up a single to right field to Jang Jin-hyuk, and the ensuing hit by Ahn Hyun-min stopped right in front of the third-base foul line for an infield single.

Won Tae-in appeared ready to retire Hilliard with an infield grounder, but first baseman Díaz committed a fielding error, loading the bases with one out.

Shaken by the unfortunate infield hit and defensive miscue, Won Tae-in began to waver and walked Kim Hyun-soo on four straight pitches, yielding the tying run on a bases-loaded walk.

However, Samsung prevented any further scoring to lay the foundation for victory.

In the top of the 12th inning, leadoff hitter Park Seung-gyu got on base with a single to left field, and the next batter, Díaz, grounded out to the infield, leaving a runner on first with one out.

Kim Sang-jun then hit a single to right field, putting runners on first and second with one out.

KT brought in veteran Woo Kyu-min, and Samsung's subsequent batter, Lee Jae-hyun, hit a ground ball toward the pitcher.

Woo Kyu-min fielded the ball and threw accurately to second to force out the lead runner, but KT second baseman Oh Yoon-seok failed to pull the ball cleanly out of his glove and made a throwing error to first.

KT first baseman Kim Hyun-soo missed the ball, and Díaz crossed home plate in the meantime.

In the bottom of the 12th inning, Samsung relief pitcher Bae Chan-seung shut down the opposing batting lineup without allowing a run, bringing a dramatic end to the game.

Díaz shined with 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored.

He experienced a roller-coaster ride from heaven to hell, going from allowing a tying run via a fielding error to scoring the game-winning run capitalized by an opponent's miscue.

Paddack pitched brilliantly, allowing 8 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts with 1 run allowed over 7 innings to set the stage for victory, earning the Daily Most Valuable Player (MVP) award along with a 1 million won cash prize.

On this day, KT deployed 8 pitchers, while Samsung utilized 5.

Game 2 also drew a full house of 17,700 spectators, extending the postseason sellout streak to 48 consecutive games dating back to Game 1 of the 2003 Korean Series.

The cumulative attendance for this year's postseason rose to 228,950.
