A convenience store in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on October 18.
A man wandering inside the store with his head nodding takes something out of his pocket, mixes it into a drink, and drinks it before his body begins to tremble.
Shortly afterward, the man heads toward the display shelves again.
This time, while attempting to steal a mobile phone charger, he is caught red-handed by the police following a report from the convenience store employee.
[Convenience Store Owner: He kept walking around the store, lingering, his eyes looked out of it, and he just didn't seem normal.]
However, while searching the belongings of the man, identified as Mr. A in his 20s, police discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine.
Preliminary drug tests also returned positive results for marijuana and methamphetamine.
Police investigations revealed that Mr. A served as a so-called "throw-drop" courier responsible for deliveries in the drug distribution process.
Investigations showed that Mr. A stopped by the convenience store to mix and drink methamphetamine after delivering the drugs.
Moreover, the location where Mr. A delivered and hid the drugs was the nearby large-scale Mok-dong apartment complex.
This is a massive residential complex housing hundreds of households.
Mr. A hid the drugs in various spots throughout the apartment complex where residents routinely come and go.
[Apartment Resident: It's shocking. You think, how could something like that happen right here? I have a grandson and a granddaughter, so if something like that happens, it's a big deal.]
Police believe that the buyers have already retrieved the drugs, as all the narcotics Mr. A hid around the complex have disappeared.
While sending Mr. A to prosecutors under detention, police are tracking down the identities of the individuals who retrieved the drugs he delivered to the apartment complex.
