Actor Cha Ye-ryun's side has once again refuted recent school bullying allegations as false and announced strong legal action.
Through an official statement on November 4, her agency HB Entertainment stated, "We previously conveyed our position that the claims raised online regarding Cha Ye-ryun's past are 'groundless.' Even after that, unverified claims and speculation made anonymously have continued to spread repeatedly."
The agency added, "We take the current situation, in which criticism is even directed toward the actor's family, very seriously. Regarding the malicious dissemination of false information and personal attacks, we will thoroughly secure relevant materials and respond responsibly through legal review."
The school bullying allegations against Cha Ye-ryun spread after a post titled "Please Stop Promoting, Actress Born in 1985 Who Was a School Bully" was uploaded to an online community last month.
The writer, Person A, posted a photo of a middle school graduation album and claimed to have suffered continuous bullying from an actress born in 1985 at the time. Although no real names were mentioned in the post, Cha Ye-ryun was singled out based on details such as her birth year and the school she attended.
HB Entertainment previously stated on October 30 that the allegations were "groundless." Nevertheless, as the school bullying allegations continue to spread online and criticism is being aimed even at her family, Cha Ye-ryun appears to have expressed her intention to take strong legal action through her agency.
