The 52nd Seoul Independent Film Festival (SIFF) has announced three films selected through actor Byeon Wooseok's production support project as its opening films.
Three films selected through the short film production support project "SIFF X Byeon Wooseok: Shorts on 2025," newly established in 2025 with the sponsorship of actor Byeon Wooseok, will be screened as world premieres as the opening films of the 52nd Seoul Independent Film Festival.
"SIFF X Byeon Wooseok: Shorts on 2025" is deeply meaningful in that it provided independent filmmakers with tangible opportunities to plan and produce their works. Beyond simple production assistance, it is drawing attention as a novel initiative in that the interest and support of an actor beloved by the public extended directly to the independent filmmaking scene.
The opening films selected this year are director Park Jeong-bin's "Being Human," director Heo Ji-yoon's "DIDIMBAL," and director Lee Joo-yong's "Nowhere." Centered on the theme of "love," these works explore the realities and emotions of contemporary youth.
▲ "Being Human" tells the story of an airport information clerk facing the risk of unemployment who discovers suspicious traces of her husband alongside the news of her pregnancy. ▲ "DIDIMBAL" portrays the love and growth experienced by a girl with the superpower to stop time, sparked by lessons with her futsal team coach. ▲ "Nowhere" captures a single day on December 31 in the lives of a long-term couple working as a motorcycle courier and a toll booth collector.
Following their opening screenings, "Being Human" and "DIDIMBAL" are scheduled to meet audiences in the Festival Choice Short Showcase section, while "Nowhere" will be featured in the Final Short Competition section.
The 52nd Seoul Independent Film Festival plans to hold an official press conference at Artnine at 11 a.m. on November 4 to introduce the opening films and program trends. The festival will be held for 10 days from November 25 to December 4 at CGV Apgujeong and CGV Cheongdam Cinecity.
