World tennis star Novak Djokovic has set a new record for the oldest match victory in the history of the ATP Tour Paris Masters.
At 39 years old this year, Djokovic defeated 27-year-old Valentin Vacherot of Monaco 2-1 in the first round of the singles tournament held in Paris, France, on November 3 local time.
After dropping the first set, Djokovic faced the risk of dropping three service games in the second set as well, but he overcame them all to level the match.
In the final set, he dominated 6-1, wrapping up a grueling 2-35 battle with a victory.
Despite receiving treatment for right shoulder pain during the match, he secured a come-from-behind victory with seasoned gameplay.
With this win, Djokovic became the oldest player to win a match at the Paris Masters at the age of 39 years and 164 days.
Djokovic is a living legend in tennis, holding the record for the most men's singles major titles with 24 and having spent a record-breaking 428 weeks as the world number one.
He has also triumphed a record seven times at the Paris Masters.
After the match, Djokovic joked, "Not bad for an old guy, right?" sharing his secret to veteran victory by saying that people think he is too old and slow, but he somehow finds a way to win close matches.
