A wife who was sorting through the medicine left behind by her late husband almost threw away 30 million won without knowing it. It turned out to be money the husband seemed to have carefully saved over a lifetime of driving a taxi. Thanks to the attentive eye of a pharmacy clerk and a police search, the money safely returned to the wife's arms.

A woman carrying a paper bag enters a pharmacy.

She came to ask the pharmacy to dispose of the remaining medicine by putting it in the bag.

However, while sorting through the medicine boxes, a pharmacy clerk discovered a bundle of cash.

It amounted to a staggering 30 million won.

[Kim Do-hyun / Pharmacy Clerk: I looked at it and saw a bundle of cash, so I was so shocked that I thought I needed to go straight to the police box. Because I had never even touched 30 million won in cash in person before...]

The pharmacy staff immediately went to a nearby police box to report it.

Police set out to track down the woman based on surrounding CCTV footage and prescription records.

[Kim Pyung-geun / Detective Team 1, Jeju Dongbu Police Station: When we checked the personal information of the man based on the prescription, it came up as deceased. Thinking that it might be money the husband had saved up...]

The owner of the cash bundle was a woman in her 60s who had recently been bereaved of her husband.

The woman was trying to dispose of the medicine left over from her husband's long battle with illness, and she had no idea there would be cash inside the medicine boxes.

She reddened with tears, recalling her quietly hardworking husband, saying that this must be the money he had diligently saved while driving a taxi during his lifetime.

[Late Husband's Wife: Tears just well up. It's a large sum of money. He saved it like that without even spending it on himself, and that's what breaks my heart the most. Still, I think there are more good people left in this world.]

The money left behind by the husband returned to the wife as a meaningful final gift, augmented by the warm hearts of the people.
