The professional baseball Korean Series has officially kicked off. In Game 1, KT, the top-seeded team in the regular season, successfully seized the early momentum by defeating Samsung in a slugfest.

Amid fierce cheering wars between KT home fans united by LED lights and Samsung away fans wearing sky-blue raincoats, it was KT that took control of the game.

In the bottom of the first inning with one out and runners on first and third, Hilliard hit an opening two-run timely hit and then scored after an infield hit by Kim Sang-su.

In the third inning, star hitter Ahn Hyun-min blasted the first home run of the Korean Series.

With no outs and a runner on second, he hit a two-run home run over the left-field wall, making it 5-0 and forcing Samsung starting pitcher Choi Won-tae off the mound.

In the fifth inning, Han Seung-taek hit a solo home run over the left-field wall, and in the sixth, Kim Hyun-soo launched a two-run home run over the right-field wall, driving Suwon Stadium into a frenzy.

The Samsung offense, which had been silenced by KT starting pitcher Daniel for six innings with no runs and seven strikeouts, began their chase in the seventh inning.

Starting with Koo Ja-wook's two-run homer up to Lee Jae-hyun's two-run timely hit that struck the wall, they scored five runs in a single inning.

Gaining momentum, the Samsung offense added two more runs in the eighth inning with Kim Sung-yoon's timely hit and Park Young-hyun's wild pitch, narrowing the gap to a single run at 8-7.

However, KT closer Park Young-hyun struck out three batters in the top of the ninth to protect the one-run victory, successfully taking the early advantage in Game 1.

In Game 2 today (Nov. 4), KT's Ko Young-pyo and Samsung's Fedde will face off as starting pitchers.
