The Cheongju Heungdeok Police Station announced on November 3 that it has arrested and is investigating a man in his 60s, identified as A, on charges of threatening his son with a weapon because the son talked back to him.

A is suspected of threatening to kill his son in his 30s, identified as B, with a weapon at their home in Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, at around 8:30 p.m. on November 2.

Police investigations showed that B caused a disturbance by claiming someone in the family had eaten food from the refrigerator. When A tried to stop him, A committed the crime because B talked back.

The police have also applied emergency temporary measures 1 through 3 under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Domestic Violence crimes to A.
