Severance Hospital announced that it has been newly designated as the Regional Emergency Medical Center for the northwest region of Seoul following the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 2026 evaluation.

The hospital's designation period as a regional emergency medical center spans three years, running until October 31, 2029.

Regional emergency medical centers serve as core emergency medical institutions responsible for the specialized treatment of severe emergency patients and disaster medical response within their designated medical districts.

They also undertake the final treatment of severe and complex emergency patients transferred from local medical institutions, while playing a pivotal role in regional emergency care through establishing regional emergency medical cooperation systems, providing education and training, and responding to medical disasters.

Building upon its accumulated capabilities in treating severe illnesses as an advanced general hospital and its cooperative systems across specialized medical departments, Severance Hospital plans to further strengthen rapid and systematic care for severe emergency patients.
