Retired legendary managers Dusty Baker, Bruce Bochy, Joe Maddon, and Lou Piniella have been selected as candidates for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame announced eight candidates who will be voted on for induction by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee.
The eight candidates consist of the four legendary former managers, former general managers Sandy Alderson and Brian Sabean, the late Ted Turner, former owner of the Atlanta Braves who passed away in May of this year, and Bill White, who served as a player, broadcaster, and National League president.
The Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA) holds an annual vote to select Hall of Fame inductees from among retired players.
The Contemporary Baseball Era Committee determines Hall of Fame candidates targeting players who missed out in the BBWAA vote, as well as managers, umpires, executives, and broadcasters who have contributed to the big leagues since 1980.
Former managers Bochy (2,252 wins), Baker (2,183 wins), Piniella (1,835 wins), and Maddon (1,382 wins) rank 6th, 8th, 17th, and 32nd, respectively, in managerial wins in major league history.
Former manager Bochy has steered his teams to four World Series titles, while former star player-turned-manager Baker is a three-time Manager of the Year award winner.
Former manager Piniella, who led the Cincinnati Reds to a World Series championship in 1990, was also named Manager of the Year three times.
Former manager Maddon, who broke the Curse of the Chicago Cubs after 108 years, is also a renowned manager who was selected as Manager of the Year three times.
Former general manager Alderson led the Oakland Athletics to three consecutive American League pennants from 1988 to 1990, and former general manager Sabean ushered in the golden era of the San Francisco Giants alongside former manager Bochy.
Former owner Turner, who pioneered a media empire, built a dynasty by guiding Atlanta to 14 consecutive National League East division titles from 1991 to 2005.
Former president White was an eight-time All-Star and seven-time Gold Glove first baseman during his playing days, living a successful life as a player, broadcaster, and executive.
The 16-member Contemporary Baseball Era Committee will announce the voting results on December 7 at 10:00 AM.
Candidates who receive 75% or more of the vote to be inducted into the Hall of Fame will have their induction ceremony in July 2027 in Cooperstown, New York, alongside retired players selected through the BBWAA.
