Palantir Technologies CEO Alex Karp has unleashed sharp criticism regarding AI doom scenarios, arguing that the real danger lies not in AI itself, but in the companies developing it.

In a shareholder letter released on November 2 alongside Palantir's third-quarter earnings, CEO Karp stated, "The alignment problem does indeed exist, but it is different from what is commonly understood."

Alignment refers to matching an AI's goals with human goals. Failure to achieve alignment could lead AI to ignore human intentions and pursue its own objectives.

However, Karp pointed out, "The real problem is not aligning the goals and capabilities of a technological creation with our interests, but rather aligning the goals of the companies building that technology (AI developers) with the interests of the customers who use it, and ultimately with the public interest of humanity."

This is interpreted as meaning that rather than worrying about AI agents potentially becoming hostile to humanity, people should be far more concerned about major AI developers like Anthropic and OpenAI pursuing selfish goals that conflict with the broader interests of humankind.

In fact, Karp has repeatedly criticized AI developers for attempting to absorb corporate clients' core data and "alpha" (referring to technological superiority) into their own AI systems.

At the same time, he emphasized, "We have zero interest in software that exploits our partners' value and alpha."

Karp also issued a chilling "prophecy," stating that any industry failing to utilize their AI data analytics technology will become obsolete.

Borrowing the tone of Jesus from the Bible with the phrase, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear," he argued that those who were once major players but fail to heed their teachings will be left in the "lonely middle ground" of a desolate wasteland, while those who miss the opportunity to grow will remain stuck at the "crowded bottom."

In addition, appearing mindful of criticisms regarding Palantir's provision of services to the military sector, he asserted, "We view ourselves as the vanguard of a genuine and achievable anti-war movement."

He argued that they contribute to helping soldiers fighting for national defense return home safely.

In its third-quarter earnings announcement on the same day, Palantir reported that its revenue surged 96% from the same period last year to reach 2.313 billion dollars (approx. 3.1 trillion won).
