Amid a recent series of hacking incidents in the financial sector, it has been confirmed that a data leak caused by a hack also occurred at Hanyang Securities.

According to the securities industry and other sources on November 3, Hanyang Securities confirmed on October 29 that some customer and employee information was leaked due to an external hack.

The leaked information includes 15 instances of customer data, 2 instances of employee-related data, and 14 instances of general personal data.

Specifically, names, resident registration numbers, driver's license numbers, account numbers, contact information, addresses, dates of birth, and email addresses were leaked, with resident registration numbers leaked in 3 cases.

The hacking was found to have occurred through an external groupware solution.

Hanyang Securities explained that immediately after detecting the incident, it blocked external access and completed emergency security patches in cooperation with the solution provider.

The exact timing of the hack is currently being identified, and the specific scope and details of the leak are under investigation.

An official from Hanyang Securities stated, "We completed reports to relevant authorities last week, and we plan to notify the affected customers individually."

The official added, "We take this matter very seriously. We sincerely apologize for causing concern to our customers. We will thoroughly inspect our security management system and do our utmost to prevent recurrence."

Previously, following the banking sector, information leakage incidents due to hacking also occurred at Daishin Securities and Mirae Asset Global Investments within the financial investment industry.
