What kind of game of tag is this in the middle of a stadium?

An unexpected chase broke out at a cricket stadium.

After the third cricket match between South Africa and Australia, a young boy suddenly ran onto the field, snatched a cricket stump—the wooden rod used in the game—and took off running.

Was he trying to take it as a souvenir?

Stadium security guards who spotted him immediately gave chase, and managed to catch him just as he was trying to climb over an advertising board.

An unexpected chase that perhaps drew more attention than the match itself!

The boy's mission to grab a souvenir ended in failure.
