Voting for the US midterm elections, which are similar to South Korea's general elections, begins in the United States this evening, Korea time (November 3). All 435 members of the US House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 senators are up for election, and the outcome is expected to take shape by tomorrow afternoon.

One day ahead of the US midterm elections, US President Donald Trump stood at the podium in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

President Trump highlighted the economic and border policy achievements of the current administration and urged voters to cast their ballots for Republican candidates.

Instead of boarding a plane, President Trump stayed in Washington today, conducting a series of about 10 telephone campaign calls throughout the day to support candidates in battleground states.

Following a weekend tour of major swing states in the Midwest, his strategy ahead of the election is to wage an all-out remote campaign connecting directly with voters nationwide from Washington.

The Democrats have also launched an all-out campaign to recapture control of the House and Senate.

Democratic leadership repeatedly encouraged moderate and young voters to participate, framing this election as an opportunity to check the power of the executive branch and restore the balance of democracy.

With tens of millions of voters having already cast their ballots through mail-in and early in-person voting, whether the balance of power in Congress will shift is expected to depend on voter turnout in ultra-tight House and Senate battlegrounds such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia.
