Late actor Choi Bul-am, our era's eternal father, was laid to rest yesterday (Nov. 2). His portrait still bore the warm, comforting smile that soothed the public. As he requested during his lifetime, the final stop before heading to the burial site was the Children's Foundation.

Amid the echoes of "Ave Maria" praying for eternal rest, the funeral mass for the deceased was held.

Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, who presided over the mass, shared the life philosophy that the late actor expressed during his lifetime.

[Yeom Soo-jung / Cardinal (Presiding over the funeral mass): (The deceased) said this after receiving baptism: An actor loved by the public must walk the path of a seeker. That is why I try to be more mindful of every word and action.]

The late actor Choi Bul-am had been a warm father and a reliable adult throughout his entire life.

Overcome by sorrow and the realization that they could no longer meet him, his family, junior colleagues, and citizens who stood by him on his final journey shed tears.

Before heading to the burial site, the procession stopped at ChildFund Korea (Green Umbrella), an organization where the deceased had served as national support chairman for over 40 years.

Stopping by on his final journey was a personal request the late actor made while he was alive.

[Kim Sun-hee / ChildFund Korea Team Leader: For the past 45 years, he went to every corner of the country and even overseas without hesitation, always taking the lead whenever it was for the children.]

Having comforted the public by playing righteous police officers and affectionate fathers, he adopted the orphan Geum-dong on screen and dedicated his life to children in reality as well.

At the age of 87, his remarkable journey as a great actor and a cherished elder of our society has finally come to an end.
