Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, announced today (Nov. 2) that the "2026 Citizen Evaluation Group for Pledge Implementation" held its first meeting, marking the official launch of its operations.
Composed of 35 citizens, the evaluation group held its first meeting at City Hall on October 30 to review the action plans for the 9th popularly elected local government's pledges from a citizen's perspective.
The evaluation group plans to finalize its final recommendations for pledge execution after holding second and third meetings on November 13 and 27, respectively, which will involve breakout group discussions and plenary sessions.
The city plans to have each responsible department review the evaluation group's recommendations and decide whether to adopt them by considering the implementation conditions and feasibility of each pledge.
Based on the review results, the city will supplement its pledge action plans and disclose the results of the citizen evaluation group's operations and the pledge implementation plans on the city's website in December.
Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik stated, "Pledges should not simply end as promises made during elections; they are commitments that must be monitored together with citizens and fulfilled responsibly to the end," adding, "I hope the evaluation group will meticulously examine areas from a citizen's perspective that administration may have overlooked."
