▲ American League Gold Glove winners in Major League Baseball
Christian Walker of the Houston Astros and Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves have each won their fourth career Gold Glove awards in Major League Baseball.
During the announcement of the 2026 Major League Baseball Gold Glove winners, given to the best defensive players by position, Walker was named the American League (AL) first baseman, while Olson was selected as the National League (NL) first baseman.
Walker returned to the winner's list this year after previously winning three consecutive NL first baseman awards from 2022 to 2024 while playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Olson earned consecutive AL first baseman honors in 2018 and 2019 while with the Oakland Athletics (now the Athletics), and once again experienced the joy of winning back-to-back awards following last year.
The Arizona Diamondbacks produced three winners: catcher Gabriel Moreno, shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, and right fielder Corbin Carroll.
Boston also had three players win the award: third baseman Caleb Durbin, center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela, and right fielder Wilyer Abreu.
From the World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers, two players received the golden gloves: NL second baseman Brice Turang and left fielder Jackson Chourio.
New York Mets pitcher Nolan McLean, who is considered a candidate for the NL Rookie of the Year this season, received a Gold Glove in just his second big league season.
McLean is the first rookie in Mets history to win a Gold Glove.
The Gold Glove, presented since 1957 to the best defensive players in MLB, is organized by the sporting goods company Rawlings.
This year's winners were determined by combining voting from team coaching staffs with defensive statistics (SDI) developed by the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR).
No players of Asian nationalities, including South Korea, won the award this year.
Kim Ha-seong, who played for the San Diego Padres in 2023 (currently a free agent), remains the only South Korean player to have won a Gold Glove.
