A man in his 30s has been caught by the police for assaulting his heavily pregnant wife during an argument.

The Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced today (November 2) that it has booked a man in his 30s, identified as A, without detention on charges of assault.

A is accused of slapping and otherwise assaulting his wife, B, who is heavily pregnant, at an apartment in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 11:20 p.m. on October 28.

The police were dispatched to the scene following a report that crying sounds could be heard, and arrested A at the scene.

Investigations revealed that A committed the violence after getting into an argument with B—who is due to give birth between December of this year and January of next year—while playing an online game.

To prevent the risk of reoffending, the police issued emergency temporary measures against A, including a ban on approaching within 100 meters of the victim.

A police official stated that B received treatment at a hospital and was found to be in good health along with the unborn child, adding that they plan to further investigate the specific circumstances of the crime.
