The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will host a nighttime experiential program titled "Moonlight Secret Mission: Uncover the Whereabouts of the Missing Royal Seal!" for a total of 18 sessions from November 4 to 29.
The Moonlight Secret Mission was organized in conjunction with "Seoul Culture Night," an initiative designed to expand opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture at night.
It is a storytelling-style program where participants can enjoy mystery-solving and traditional cultural experiences against the backdrop of the night scenery of cultural heritage sites.
Unhyeongung, the setting of the program, is the former private residence where King Gojong lived before ascending the throne, as well as the private home of Heungseon Daewongun, serving as a major stage in the political history of the late Joseon Dynasty.
The program features a combination of live actor performances, traditional cultural experiences, and mystery missions, utilizing the actual buildings and courtyards of Unhyeongung as the stage for the story.
Participants become protagonists in the story, interacting with characters, gathering clues, and tracking down the whereabouts of the missing royal seal.
Specifically, participants will move sequentially through Unhyeongung's decorated brick wall (kkotdam), Norakdang, and Irodang, taking on three missions.
Using secret notes and decoding tools obtained at each location, they will solve clues to find the royal seal.
The highlight of the program is the final mission, "Find the Real Royal Seal," which takes place in the corridors of Irodang, an area normally closed to the general public.
Based on the clues gathered previously, participants will enter the corridors in families or teams to take on the final task.
After recovering the royal seal, Heungseon Daewongun will select the participant who performed most actively that day as the "Best Secret Agent."
Following this, the cast and participants will take commemorative photos together and wrap up the autumn night by performing the Ganggangsullae (traditional circle dance) to the rhythm of a traditional vocalist.
The Moonlight Secret Mission runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM each session, with a capacity of 20 participants per session.
The participation fee is 10,000 won per person.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for each session through Naver Reservation.
Detailed information, including the operating schedule, can be found on the Unhyeongung website (www.unhyeongung.or.kr).
