The Japanese animated film "Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island" has claimed the top spot at the weekend box office for the fourth consecutive week.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets on November 2, "Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island" drew 221,657 moviegoers from October 30 to November 1. Its cumulative audience now stands at 2,583,857.

Released on September 30, "Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island" dominated the weekend box office for four straight weeks, crossing the 2 million mark in 25 days and surpassing 2.5 million admissions in 33 days.

Second place at the box office was taken by Brad Pitt's new film "Heart of the Beast," which attracted 162,795 viewers over the same period, bringing its cumulative audience to 215,242.
