HL Anyang, led by head coach Jim Paek, defeated the Tohoku Free Blades in an away match in Japan.

HL Anyang secured a 4-1 victory against Tohoku in their 10th regular season game of the Asia League Ice Hockey held today (November 1) at the Flat Hachinohe ice rink in Aomori Prefecture, Japan.

With this win, HL Anyang claimed their 6th victory (4 losses) of the season, bringing their points total to 18.

Though tied in points with Tohoku, HL Anyang moved up to 3rd place in the league by winning the tiebreaker criteria.

HL Anyang took the lead in the first period when, despite being shorthanded following a penalty to Song Jong-hun at 7:10, Kim Sang-wook capitalized on a steal to score a shorthanded goal at 8:06.

They faced a crisis when goal-scorer Kim Sang-wook received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for checking an opponent at 9:57 of the first period, but they successfully defended without conceding a goal.

After giving up an equalizer to Tohoku's Yutaka Togo at 8:13 of the second period, HL Anyang regained the lead at 10:44 when Kim Sang-yeob connected on a pass from Kim Sung-jae with a one-timer.

Scoring his 9th goal of the season, Kim Sang-yeob maintained his sole possession of the top spot in the league's scoring rankings.

Kim Sung-jae added another goal 23 seconds into the third period, and Ahn Jin-hui sealed the victory with an insurance goal at 9:11 to put the game away.

Starting goaltender Jeon Jong-hoon contributed to the team's victory by stopping 27 out of 28 shots on goal.

HL Anyang will play their 11th away match against Tohoku at the same venue the day after tomorrow (November 3) at 2:00 PM.
