A report that someone received "drug candy" on Hongdae Street in Mapo-gu, Seoul, yesterday (October 31) for Halloween turned out to be false.
Yesterday evening, police were dispatched after receiving a report stating that "a man wearing a character puppet mask from a popular foreign language learning app is handing out candies suspected of containing narcotics in Hongdae," but it was determined to be a false report.
According to police investigations, no narcotics or similar substances were detected in the candies distributed by the man, confirming that there were no criminal suspicions involved.
Yesterday, rumors spread on social media (SNS) claiming that someone experienced abnormal symptoms after eating candy received from the man, leading to an actual report being filed, but the incident concluded as a mere happenstance.
