The sandwich panel walls of the building have collapsed in various places, and thick, grayish smoke blankets the surrounding area.

At around 12:40 AM today, a fire broke out at a farming hut in Jojong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province.

Fire authorities completely extinguished the blaze about 1 hour and 45 minutes after receiving the report, but two people inside the building—a man and a woman in their 50s—were found dead, and another man, the owner of the house, was injured.

[Fire official: It seems someone who was inside managed to escape and reported it. They said there were people who were together inside and couldn't get out...]

Police believe the fire started while the homeowner was trying to disconnect an LPG gas tank to turn off a stove during a gathering with acquaintances, and are investigating the exact circumstances.

Smoke billows continuously from between mountain valleys.

At around 1:15 PM today, another fire broke out at a hillside in Deokam-ri, Imgye-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon Province.

The Korea Forest Service and fire authorities mobilized 6 helicopters and 23 pieces of equipment to bring the flames under control in about two and a half hours.

While there were no casualties, 0.5 hectares of forest were burned.

Fire authorities believe a fire that started in a nearby abandoned house spread to the mountain.

A boat floats precariously, listing to one side on the sea.

At around 10:00 PM last night, a 1-ton coastal gillnet fishing boat was flooded in waters near Tanseom, Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do.

Coast Guard officers dispatched after receiving the report safely rescued two crew members aboard within 30 minutes.

Investigations showed that the fishing vessel departed from Doman Port in Jindong-myeon, Changwon, at around 3:30 PM the same day and ran aground after hitting a reef while fishing.
