U.S. President Donald Trump stated local time yesterday (the 30th) that he is looking into the matter when asked whether the hacking attack on Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, was carried out by North Korea.

During a Q&A session with reporters at the White House, when asked whether he believes the Binance hack was the work of a North Korean hacking group, President Trump responded, "We don't know," adding, "We are looking into it."

When further questioned about the prospects of recovering the stolen funds, President Trump explained that "they say they're going to get it back," implying that Binance is claiming the situation is under control.

He also added that he has always considered cryptocurrency to be a bit risky.

Following a hack that occurred on the 29th, approximately $6.3 billion (8.4 trillion won) worth of virtual assets were unauthorizedly withdrawn from Binance.

This marks the largest single hacking scale in the virtual asset industry.

Industry insiders have pointed to North Korea's elite hacking organization "TraderTraitor" as the mastermind behind the hack.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has also launched an investigation.
