Director of National Security Wi Sung-lac met with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, who is currently visiting South Korea, on October 30 to exchange views on the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula, Cheong Wa Dae said in a press release.

Wi was briefed by Minister Cassis on the results of his recent trip to North Korea and commended Switzerland for maintaining and expanding communication channels with Pyongyang, according to Cheong Wa Dae.

Both sides shared the view on the importance of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, as well as the necessity of dialogue and diplomatic efforts toward that end, and agreed to continue close communication on related pending issues moving forward.

Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Cassis had arrived in Pyongyang the previous day.

Cassis also stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he held talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui that day.
