Actress Cha Ye-ryun has strongly denied school violence allegations raised against her online, calling them "completely groundless."
On October 29, a post titled "Please stop the activities of the actress born in '85 who was a school bully" was uploaded to an online community. The author, identified as A, claimed that an actress referred to as C was a notorious school bully during their time at Junggye Middle School and frequently subjected others to harassment.
In the post, author A claimed that actress C would call students out to the corridors of buildings near the school and viciously assault them, primarily targeting their face, causing swollen cheeks and a ruptured eardrum. A also listed specific details of ongoing harassment, stating that C would hurl verbal abuse during every break, forcibly borrow and refuse to return gym uniforms or textbooks, and demand that they swap shoes after showing up to a school picnic in a suit and high heels.
Author A further expressed distress, stating, "I am still mentally struggling so much. Because of that person, I am still visiting a psychiatric department, taking medication, and living with depression and anxiety. It makes my blood run dry to see me, the victim, living with trauma while the perpetrator goes on receiving love from the public as if nothing happened."
A added, "When I see her smiling on TV or YouTube, being consumed as a good wife, a good mother, an actress who cooks well, or a healthy character, I feel pain," demanding a sincere apology from actress C and an immediate halt to all broadcasting and YouTube activities.
Although the post did not explicitly state the real name of the perpetrator, clues such as "an actress born in 1985 who graduated from Junggye Middle School" led to a rapid spread of speculative posts online pointing to Cha Ye-ryun as the alleged bully.
In response, Cha Ye-ryun's agency, HB Entertainment, completely denied the allegations, stating, "Upon verification, [the claims] are groundless."
