Police have launched an investigation after a decomposed body of a woman was found in the upper reaches of the Taehwagang River in Ulsan.

According to the Ulsan Fire Headquarters and other authorities today (October 30), a report was received at around 12:02 p.m. that a person was caught on a weir near Mudong Bridge on the Taehwagang River in Bancheon-ri, Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan.

When police and fire authorities arrived at the scene, the body was found to be that of a woman in her 20s. Although decomposition had already begun at the time of discovery, no distinct external injuries were found.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death through interviews with the bereaved family and analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
