North Korea held an unmanned aerial technology exhibition yesterday (October 29) attended by leader Kim Jong-un, the Korean Central News Agency reported.
The North Korean military's suicide attack drones, multipurpose drones, and 600mm multiple rocket launchers were showcased.
The state news agency reported that air-to-surface missiles launched from drones precisely struck island targets with 100 percent accuracy, and combat firing of the ultra-precision 600mm large-caliber multiple rocket launcher, dubbed the "Sniper," was publicly demonstrated before a crowd for the first time.
It also claimed that the combat reliability and effectiveness of all major weapon systems were satisfactorily verified, while published photos showed scenes of strikes on targets presumed to be mock-ups of South Korean frontline guard posts and U.S. tanks.
During a speech at the exhibition, Kim emphasized that power is peace, highlighting the "application of artificial intelligence to unmanned equipment systems."
[Korean Central Television: Comrade Kim Jong-un emphasized that "Power is peace, and peace is guaranteed only by power," and that "Miraculous results must also be produced in the fields of unmanned aerial technology and national defense artificial intelligence."]
Kim was accompanied at the event by his wife, Ri Sol-ju, and daughter, Ju-ae, while senior military and party officials, including Pak Jong-chon, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, attended in large numbers.
While the test-firing site at yesterday's exhibition is presumed to be the Kalma airfield in Wonsan, the South Korean military stated that about 10 short-range ballistic missiles fired by North Korea from the Wonsan area into the East Sea yesterday afternoon flew 250 kilometers, and that it is currently analyzing their exact specifications.
