At around 9:20 AM today (October 30), a pile driver used for drilling into the ground collapsed at a new apartment construction site in Sinmun-dong, Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, falling onto a neighboring apartment complex.

The accident left the operator in his 40s, who was inside the cab of the pile driver, with minor injuries, and he was transported to a hospital.

While there were no casualties among the residents, the approximately 33-meter-long pile driver fell toward the adjacent apartment complex, damaging a resident pedestrian walkway, a fence, and landscaping trees.

Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident by questioning construction officials and others.
