The Korea Studies Future Promotion Institute, set to become a hub for Korean studies research in the Jeonbuk region, will officially launch next month.

The institute announced that it will hold its opening ceremony on November 6 at its lawn square in Buan-gun and begin full-scale activities.

Located on Munjeong-ro in Buan-eup, Buan-gun, the institute was established with a total budget of 11 billion won, including 5 billion won in national funds and 6 billion won in provincial funds.

Rather than remaining focused on traditional Korean studies, the institute aims to pioneer "future Korean studies" by combining humanities with artificial intelligence (AI).

Based on research into Jeolla Confucianism, it will solidify the research foundation for Korean and regional studies in Jeonbuk, and serve as a core pillar of Korean studies research alongside the Korean Studies Institute in Andong, the Jeonnam Institute of Korean Studies in Gwangju, and the Korea Confucianism Culture Institute in Nonsan.

The institute was established by Jeonbuk State and will be operated under a private consignment by the Jeonbuk Institute.

Around 100 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony, including officials from the provincial government, provincial council, Buan-gun, related organizations, and local Confucian scholars.
