Kim Ji-won is taking on an operation with slim odds of success to remove a bullet lodged inside a patient's head in "Doctor X: Mafia in White."
Ahead of the broadcast of Episode 7 on October 30, the production team of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White" (written by Pyeon Seong-geun, directed by Lee Jung-rim) released tense stills from the operating room showing protagonist Gye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won) extracting bullet fragments that have remained lodged in a patient's head for 46 years.
In the previously aired Episode 6, Gye Soo-jung shook Guseo University Hospital by volunteering to operate on patient Oh Sang-beom (played by Ha Sung-kwang), a surgery that everyone had avoided due to its slim chances of success and nationwide public attention. While deeply empathizing with the patient's physical and psychological trauma, Gye Soo-jung discovered an unusual circumstance on his brain CT scan and murmured, "What on earth happened that day?" raising curiosity about the secret hidden behind the surgery.
In the newly released stills, Gye Soo-jung proceeds with the operation cautiously as doctors from Guseo University Hospital as well as external figures look on. Amid extreme tension with the lurking risks of table death or a vegetative state, Gye Soo-jung channels all her focus into the tips of her fingers with an unwavering gaze, as if proving her conviction: "I will not fail."
In particular, veteran doctors with decades of combined experience and even hospital director Boo Seung-kwon (played by Son Hyun-joo) cannot take their eyes off the scene in a state of high tension, drawing attention. Anticipation builds over whether Gye Soo-jung will overcome everyone's doubts to save the patient and what the true nature of the suspicion she caught in the patient's test results might be.
Meanwhile, Episode 7 of "Doctor X: Mafia in White," which has captivated viewers by breaking past a peak viewership rating of 21.3%, airs tonight (October 30) at 9:50 p.m.
