The upcoming film "President Kim Dae-jung" is holding a crowdfunding campaign for nationwide special preview screenings and promotional activities ahead of its theatrical release next year.

Focusing on the 15th presidential election in 1997 and the period following his victory, "President Kim Dae-jung" highlights how the choice of the people led to historical changes in South Korea. Following key policy and diplomatic decisions—ranging from economic structural reforms to overcome the foreign exchange crisis and the opening of Japanese pop culture to the 2000 inter-Korean summit—the film reflects on the responsibilities and significance of judgment that a president must shoulder in the face of national crisis.

While its predecessor, "Kim Dae-jung on the Road," captured his life and journey toward democracy, this new work turns its attention to the worries and determinations he faced from the seat of the presidency. At a time when questions surrounding the roles and responsibilities of leaders continue across the globe, the film prompts reflection on the meaning of democracy and leadership through the choices of a president who guided an era.

To share the film with a wider audience, "President Kim Dae-jung" is also conducting a crowdfunding campaign. The funding was organized to arrange nationwide special preview screenings prior to the release and to spread the news of the film's premiere. Depending on their level of participation, backers can have their names featured in the movie's end credits.

The film was planned by the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center and the Kim Dae-jung Commemorative Association, produced by Myung Films and Cinema 6411, and directed by Jung Sung-hoon. It is scheduled to be released on January 6, 2027, marking the 103rd birth anniversary of President Kim Dae-jung.
