A man in his 50s has been arrested by police after making a false emergency call to 112 claiming he had killed someone, prompting a massive response from police and firefighters in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.
According to police today (October 29), the suspect, identified as A, is accused of calling 112 at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday from an officetel in Uijeongbu and falsely reporting, "I am going to surrender. I killed someone."
Following the report, 31 police officers, 9 firefighters, and 11 vehicles were dispatched to the scene, but it was confirmed that no actual murder had taken place.
Police urgently arrested A on charges of interference with official duties by fraudulent means.
A stated during questioning that he committed the crime out of frustration, claiming, "There is no one who acknowledges me, and the police do not show up even when you call 112."
Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A.
