For the first time in a while, the KOSPI surged for two consecutive days. The market erupted in cheers after SK Hynix, which posted record-breaking earnings, announced it would return 100 trillion won of its profits to shareholders. Today, on the 28th, we begin our news by examining whether this momentum can continue and what conditions are necessary for it to do so.

First, let's turn to reporter Min Gyeongho.

The KOSPI surged 10% in just two days.

Following yesterday's news of the US AI company Anthropic filing for an IPO, SK Hynix stepped up today.

In the third quarter, it posted a record-breaking operating profit of 83 trillion won and unveiled a shareholder return policy worth up to 100 trillion won, lifting the KOSPI index by 6.63%.

Triggering a buy sidecar for two straight days, the KOSPI recovered the 6,000 mark at the closing price for the first time in 10 trading days.

Following yesterday, foreign investors net-bought 820 billion won and institutions 960 billion won, leading the market.

When including the alternative trading system Nextrade, the scale of net purchases by foreign investors increases to 1.14 trillion won. It has been about a month since September 18 that foreign investors purchased over 1 trillion won worth of stocks.

Now, the baton has passed to Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Electronics is also set to announce its detailed third-quarter earnings and shareholder return policy tomorrow morning, with forecasts emerging that it could surpass the 100 trillion won unveiled by SK Hynix.

Reflecting these expectations, while SK Hynix shares jumped 10.9% today, Samsung Electronics also surged 9% in advance.

In addition, right before Samsung Electronics' announcement, major US tech companies such as Microsoft and Alphabet are also scheduled to release their earnings, and the scale of their artificial intelligence investments is expected to have a significant impact on our stock market.
