At the women's professional volleyball rookie draft held on October 28, the IBK Altos selected Audrey Park as the first overall pick.
With foreign-national compatriots now eligible to participate in the rookie draft starting this year, Audrey Park is set to begin a new challenge in the V-League.
Audrey Park, who previously played for UCLA in the U.S. and the professional volleyball team Columbus Fury, attempted to enter the V-League draft last year, but the attempt fell through due to nationality regulations at the time.
Seizing the opportunity a year later, she expressed her excitement, saying, "It was my dream to play in Korea," and added that she wants to learn more about the Korean language and culture.
Her family accompanied her to the draft venue.
Her grandmother, Kim Young-hee, could not hide her joy, saying it was unbelievable that her granddaughter would play volleyball in her home country, while Audrey Park named sujebi (hand-pulled dough soup) made by her grandmother as her favorite Korean dish.
