Kim Byung-hyun and Lee Bong-won dreamed of going global.
The episode of SBS's "You're My Destiny" broadcast on October 27 depicted Kim Byung-hyun preparing for Oktoberfest alongside Lee Bong-won.
On this day, Kim Byung-hyun produced 30,000 sausages and pork hocks (haxen) for the Korean festival inspired by Germany's Oktoberfest, which is counted among the world's top three festivals.
He then reached out to Lee Bong-won to develop new menu items for the festival. Inspired by pairing jjamppong with sausages, he asked Lee Bong-won to create new sausage and haxen sauces utilizing Chinese cuisine.
In response, Lee Bong-won carefully devised various dishes. He prepared kkanpung haxen, sweet and sour sausage, and sausage tortillas.
To finalize the menu, the dishes underwent an evaluation by the event's general representative and the chefs in charge. The dishes had to pass their judging to be approved as the final menu.
The judges did not hold back their praise for the sausage and haxen dishes created by Lee Bong-won. They drew attention by unanimously selecting the kkanpung haxen as the final special menu item.
Then came the day of the event. Kim Byung-hyun and Lee Bong-won busily sold sausages and haxen, selling out their daily target amount in just three and a half hours. Notably, Kim Byung-hyun's sausages and haxen ranked first and second in sales among all menu items, drawing admiration.
Also on this day, wanting to check if going global was truly possible, Kim Byung-hyun invited special guests. They were comedian Kim Hye-sun and her family. Kim Byung-hyun warmly welcomed Kim Hye-sun, who arrived with her German husband and German parents-in-law.
He served food to Kim Hye-sun's parents-in-law, who had lived in Berlin for 70 years, and asked for their honest evaluation. In response, Kim Hye-sun's parents-in-law praised the food, saying, "It's tender and delicious. It's a fantastic taste. It melts before you even chew."
In particular, they evaluated Kim Byung-hyun's sausage as tasting like German sausage and drew attention by asking if it could be ordered online.
Lee Bong-won's specially prepared kkanpung haxen also sold out that day, bringing bright smiles to both CEOs.
After the entire event ended, the two checked their daily sales. Having exceeded their target sales by selling around 1,500 sausages and around 700 haxen, smiles did not leave their faces, drawing attention.
Meanwhile, at the end of the broadcast, actor Lee Hyo-jung and his son, actor Lee You-jin, appeared. Just as viewers were puzzled by the appearance of a father and son instead of a married couple, Lee You-jin introduced his bride-to-be, revealing that he is preparing to marry actor Cha Kyeong-eun.
Lee You-jin then said, "There probably isn't another household where the groom's father makes such a fuss like ours," teasing a tearful pre-wedding family meeting and sparking curiosity about what will happen to them in the next broadcast.
