"Passing straight through a prison gate without hindrance" what does this mean?

An inmate at the Cheonan Correctional Institution calmly walked right out the front gate of the prison.

What is even more surprising is that he walked out without facing any intervention whatsoever.

Let us take a closer look at the details.

It happened on August 10.

While carrying an exiting inmate's belongings together with a prison guard, an inmate identified as A ended up walking right out through the front gate of the prison.

It was reported that the guard on duty at the front gate failed to verify whether A was an inmate and thus did not stop him from leaving.

A was reportedly brought back to the prison later after being stopped by the warden.

The Cheonan Correctional Institution explained that A had simply walked out unintentionally while helping carry luggage and had no intention of escaping the facility.

However, criticism is inevitable over the failure to properly enforce access control.

The Daejeon Regional Correctional Administration recently issued warnings to two prison guards who were on duty at the front gate at the time.
