U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 27th (local time), "We will officially ban the term AI (Artificial Intelligence) in all related official documents and all areas without delay."
Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump made the remarks and cited the "inaccuracy of the term" as the reason for a complete ban on its usage.
"When is The Wall Street Journal going to call AI—which is a very bad and inaccurate designation—SI (Super Intelligence)?" Trump pointed out, noting that the media outlet continues to use AI in its reports.
He went on to claim that the term SI is "a designation that virtually everyone is using or will soon use."
On September 29, President Trump signed an executive order requiring federal departments and agencies to use the term SI instead of AI in official documents.
Trump has argued that the word "artificial" in AI fails to properly reflect the level of technological advancement, and that SI, meaning a vastly superior intelligence, should be used instead.
