Four workers have been injured following a gas explosion during interior work at a commercial building in Incheon.

At around 8:45 a.m. today (October 27), a report was received that a gas explosion had occurred on the first floor of a commercial building in Majeon-dong, Geomdan-gu, Incheon.

As a result of the accident, four people in their 60s, consisting of men and women, suffered burns to their faces and other parts of their bodies. They were transported to the hospital by 119 emergency rescue services and are currently receiving treatment.

Authorities have determined that demolition work for business closure was underway inside a first-floor restaurant at the time of the accident.

Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident, suspecting that the explosion occurred while work was being carried out without the gas valve being shut off.

A police official stated, "It appears that the explosion was triggered by a spark," adding that "the injuries of the victims are not life-threatening."
