The Supreme Court has finalized a three-year prison sentence for former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Im Seong-geun, who was put on trial as the person responsible for the death of Corporal Chae.

During the final appeal hearing held this morning (October 27), the Supreme Court upheld the lower court's ruling sentencing him to three years in prison.

Last August, the appellate court severely criticized former Commander Im, stating that as the top commander responsible for the safety of his troops, he neglected his professional duty of care, and sentenced him to three years in prison.
