Song Je-woo, a left wing who played for the Fukuoka Golden Wolves in the Japanese handball league, will wear the SK Hawks uniform.

At the 2026–2027 Handball H League men's division rookie draft held at the Mayfield Hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on the 27th, the SK Hawks called Song's name with the first pick of the first round, just a day before his 24th birthday.

Song, a graduate of Korea National Sport University, joined the Fukuoka Golden Wolves last year and competed as a national team member for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Choi Ji-hwan, a center back and left back from Wonkwang University who was the MVP of the 2022 Asian Youth Championship, was selected second by Chungnam Provincial Government, while Kim Dong-young, a left back and center back from Kangwon National University, was drafted by Doosan.

This season's rookie draft determined the first-round lottery order based on the final regular league standings from the 2025–2026 season using a probability-based drawing method among five teams, excluding Sangmu (6th place), which did not participate in the draft: SK Hawks (2nd), Chungnam Provincial Government (5th), Doosan (4th), Incheon Urban Corporation (1st), and Hanam City Hall (3rd).

Incheon Urban Corporation selected Lee Ho-hyun, a left back and center back from Wonkwang University, and Hanam City Hall called Kim Hyun-min, a 175 cm tall goalkeeper from Kyung Hee University.

Following the first round, the draft proceeded up to the sixth round in the reverse order of the previous round.

The draft concluded when Lim Ho, a center back and left wing from Kangwon National University, was selected by Incheon Urban Corporation in the fifth round.

A total of 19 players applied for the men's division draft, with 13 signing contracts with corporate teams, resulting in a 68 percent employment rate.

Players selected 1st through 3rd in the first round will receive a signing bonus of 70 million won, while those chosen 4th and 5th will receive 50 million won each.

Players drafted 1st through 3rd in the second round will sign for 30 million won, and those picked 4th and 5th will sign for 20 million won each.

Players selected 1st through 5th in the third round will receive a signing bonus of 10 million won, while players drafted in the fourth through sixth rounds will not receive a signing bonus.

The contract period can be adjusted up to a maximum of five years, and the annual salary is 27 million won or more, including taxes.

This amount is aligned with South Korea's minimum wage.
