Anthropic, the developer of the generative AI model Claude, has become the first major AI model company to file for an initial public offering on the U.S. Nasdaq. Its corporate value and fundraising amount are projected to be the largest in history, and it has drawn attention for addressing the risks of AI at length in its public filing.
Our first report today (October 27) comes from New York correspondent Kim Hyunwoo.

Anthropic submitted its registration statement for an initial public offering to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on local time October 26.
This puts the company a step ahead of OpenAI, entering the IPO process as the very first AI model developer to go public.
The registration statement did not specifically outline the number of shares to be offered or the targeted price range.
U.S. media outlets reported that Anthropic's corporate valuation could reach up to $2 trillion, approximately 2,700 trillion won.
Projections indicate the company aims to raise $100 billion, or roughly 133 trillion won, through this listing—surpassing the previous record of $75 billion set by SpaceX last June.
Anthropic reported that its revenue for the first half of this year reached $16.2 billion, or about 21 trillion won, marking a more than 14-fold increase compared to a year earlier.
In an unusual move, Anthropic detailed the risks of AI in its IPO filing.
The company warned that if AI is used for malicious purposes or gets out of control, it could threaten all of humanity and potentially bring about catastrophic risks.
[Bernard Condon / AP Reporter: The filing even includes risks such as authoritarian governments using AI to suppress citizens, or terrorists creating chemical and biological weapons.]
Anthropic also explicitly listed its ongoing legal disputes with the government as a key business risk, adding that this could potentially deter companies selling products and services to the U.S. government from using Anthropic's AI.
Following the news of Anthropic's IPO filing, expectations for artificial intelligence were rekindled, pushing all three major New York stock indices, including the Nasdaq, to close higher overnight.
