Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on the 26th (local time) that even if trilateral talks involving the United States are held to end the war in Ukraine, they will not place any restrictions on the operations of the Russian military.
According to TASS news agency, Peskov said during a briefing that "the decision to resume trilateral talks does not imply any restrictions on military operations."
He continued, "Our military is continuing its 'special military operation,' persistently launching massive strikes against Ukraine's military and paramilitary targets," while claiming that "the Kyiv regime is persisting in all its provocative acts."
However, regarding the U.S. White House's announcement last week that a localized ceasefire in Oleshky, Ukraine, would soon take place, he evaluated it positively, saying it "could serve as a model for agreements in other regions."
In response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's remarks that negotiations regarding territory should take place at the trilateral talks table, Peskov said, "Discussing such details publicly can harm the peace process and is therefore undesirable."
A day earlier, President Zelenskyy asserted in a media interview that "territorial issues must be addressed at the summit level, while other matters can be handled at the working-level technical group."
Regarding this, Peskov only remarked, "All such issues can somehow become subjects of discussion in the process of efforts for a peaceful resolution," adding that "very serious discussions are scheduled, and numerous details will be addressed."
