KB Kookmin Bank announced today (October 26) that an additional 2,091 people have been confirmed to have had their information leaked due to an external hacking incident.

With the 119 individuals confirmed on October 2, the total number of victims has increased to 2,210. Among the newly confirmed 2,91 individuals, 1,631 are customers and 460 are executives and employees.

The bank explained that this is not due to a new hacking attack, but rather the result of a thorough re-verification of data and processes related to the previously affected system.

"We sincerely apologize to our customers for failing to fully grasp the scale of the incident in the beginning," a bank official said, adding, "We will do our utmost to thoroughly prevent recurrence and protect our customers."

KB Kookmin Bank stated that it plans to individually notify customers whose information leak was additionally confirmed of the breach and methods to prevent secondary damage, and that it is operating a main call center (☎ 1588-9999) and a dedicated counseling center (☎ 1566-8331) for this purpose.

Previously, KB Kookmin Bank announced on October 2 that personal information, including the names, phone numbers, addresses, and encrypted resident registration numbers of 119 customers, had been leaked due to a hacking attack.

At the time, the bank stated that the information was leaked through the mobile work support system for employees and that it plans to fully compensate for any secondary damage that occurs.
