Girl group ILLIT, who enjoyed massive popularity earlier this year with "It's Me," is aiming for a second consecutive hit with their new song "You're Arrested."
During a showcase held today (October 26) to mark the release of their fifth mini-album "BREAK EVEN," ILLIT stated, "'You're Arrested' is a track that maximizes addictiveness, which is the greatest strength of ILLIT's music," adding, "People will find themselves humming along to this song naturally."
"BREAK EVEN" centers on the breakeven point of a relationship where there are neither losses nor gains, conveying the message that "we will no longer maintain a relationship that only brings losses." The title track "You're Arrested" and three other b-side tracks are arranged following the emotional flow of betrayal, irritation, and anger.
HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk participated in the production of all the tracks.
Regarding the new album, ILLIT shared their determination, saying, "We will focus on what we do best. Our characteristics are our bold charm and addictive music. There is a saying that once you watch us, you can't just watch us once, and we will work hard so that there is no one who hasn't watched us or has only watched us once."
ILLIT introduced their new song "You're Arrested" as an electro-pop genre track featuring an ear-catching chorus, explaining that the whistle sounds appearing throughout the song create powerful addictiveness.
At today's showcase performance, ILLIT transformed into secret agents, delivering a warning message of "You're Arrested" to someone who made them mistake habitual kindness for love, utilizing vivid facial expressions, whistle signals, and choreography that resembled chasing a target.
Member WONHEE introduced the song by saying, "'You're Arrested' is a message to someone who committed the crime of 'habitual kindness' and made me mistake it for them liking me," adding, "It is a bold warning letter of sorts from ILLIT, stating that we will directly put an end to such a frustrating relationship."

ILLIT first unveiled the performance of "You're Arrested" at their solo concert held on October 17–18 at the Inspire Arena in Incheon. Following criticism over outfits reminiscent of police uniforms, they modified their costume concept and some choreography for this performance.
Member YOONA explained, "As you can see in the music video, 'You're Arrested' is a song based on the concept of black agents, and we will showcase various styling in our remaining performances as well."
Having debuted in March 2024, ILLIT gained popularity on short-form platforms like TikTok with highly addictive dance tracks such as "Magnetic" and "Lucky Girl Syndrome."
Released in April of this year, "It's Me" swept the top spots on domestic music charts with its intense yet lingering sound.
Member MINJU stated, "Because 'It's Me' received so much love, there was a sense of pressure that we needed to do even better, but this pressure became a positive stimulus for us," adding, "We discussed with each other and practiced hard to repay the love we received and show a step further in our growth."
Member MOKA, who sat out recent activities and concerts due to health issues, will not participate in this promotional cycle either.
ILLIT members shared that MOKA is currently recovering and is sending plenty of support while watching ILLIT's content.
