Nol Universe has issued an apology after revealing that personal information of some customers and employees was leaked due to a hacking incident.

In a notice posted on its website today (October 26), Nol Universe stated, "On October 22, an external attacker exploited a security vulnerability in our system to abnormally access the inquiry function for domestic accommodation booking data from the former Interpark Tour." It added, "The affected booking details are for customers who used the domestic accommodation booking service on the former Interpark Tour between February 15 of this year and September 8."

However, the company noted that flight, overseas accommodation, tour, and ticket bookings on Interpark Tour, as well as NOL service bookings, were not included in this data breach.

The leaked personal information items include member IDs, member numbers, booking names, user names, phone numbers, email addresses, product names, purchase amounts, and usage dates.

Nol Universe explained, "Immediately upon detecting the incident, we blocked the access path used in the attack, patched the security vulnerability, and reinforced our system for detecting and blocking abnormal access." The company added, "To prevent additional damage and carry out thorough follow-up measures, we have requested technical support from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA)."

Furthermore, the company urged users to be vigilant against suspicious contacts such as emails, text messages, or phone calls related to this incident, and to refrain from clicking on unverified links or entering personal and authentication information.

Previously, Nol Universe announced on its website on October 22 that it had "confirmed that the personal information of some employees was leaked due to abnormal external access."

An official from Nol Universe stated, "We offer our deepest apologies for the security breach." They added, "We are currently identifying the breach route and scope, faithfully cooperating with relevant authorities, continuing to verify additional facts and take response measures, and plan to comprehensively strengthen our security system based on the investigation results."
