Regarding North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un's one-day visit to China on October 24, the Ministry of Unification stated, "We hope Chairman Kim's visit to Dandong will lead in a direction that makes a constructive contribution to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the resumption of dialogue among neighboring countries."

Spokesperson Yoon Min-ho made the remarks during a regular briefing today, explaining that the Unification Ministry is closely monitoring the potential impact of Chairman Kim's visit to Dandong on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and is closely analyzing its timing, format, and content.

Regarding North Korea sending a letter to the president of the UN Security Council claiming that the landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone was a South Korean "fabricated stunt," Yoon assessed that "it appears to be a countermeasure to the letter our government sent recently."

He added, "In terms of content, we view it as repeating their existing stance on the landmine explosion incident while attempting to justify their so-called border fortification work."
